WATER FOR EDUCATION

1. WHY  SCHOOLS

  • At Sustainable Water, we believe children in developing countries should grow up to be solutions to their own problems. We believe that choice between water and education should not be a choice at all.

  • We partner with schools in developing countries and install solar water pumps. This increases school attendance and improves access to education. Because girls are the primary water carriers, this means more girls go back to school and get educated

2. SOME GIRLY FACTS

  • 66 million girls are out of school globally. (UNESCO)

  • A girl with an extra year of education can earn 20% more as an adult. (The World Bank)

  • Educated mothers are more than twice as likely to send their children to school. (UNICEF)

3.  WATER FOR EDUCATION PROGRAM

  • Schools in the UK can SPONSOR a school in developing countries to get a water pump.

  • In the process, the students from the participating school learn about STEM projects, increase their awareness of the environment through conservation of resources such as water and energy. For example  during ECO WEEK
